The Low Bill Home is an independent site about one thing: spending less on energy at home without being cold in winter or hot in summer. We write practical guides to heating, drafts and insulation, electricity use and the products that actually help, and we build free calculators so you can check the numbers for your own home.
How we work
- We use official numbers. Savings figures come from sources such as the U.S. Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR and the Energy Information Administration, and we link to them.
- We show the math. When we say something costs a certain amount to run, we show the wattage, the hours and the electricity rate behind it, so you can redo it for your home.
- We say what we did and didn’t do. When a recommendation is based on research, specifications and buyer feedback rather than our own long-term testing, we say so. We never invent first-hand experiences or reviews.
- We put safety first. Space heaters, wiring and gas appliances can be dangerous; we follow manufacturer and fire-safety guidance and say when to call a professional.
- We update. Rates, rebates and rules change. Every guide shows the date it was last updated.
How the site is funded
Some links on The Low Bill Home are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend: we pick products because they solve the problem in the guide, and we point out their downsides. Read our affiliate disclosure for details.
